1. Good morning,

I hope this email finds you well. I am contacting you from Heads On, the official NHS charity for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT), which operates adult and children’s mental health services across Sussex.

As you may know, the national charity NHS Charities Together have received a huge amount of donations over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, which they have been distributing to NHS charities across the UK. They recently launched their second round of grants which will see a further £30m allocated to NHS Charities, these grants are aimed at supporting the wider NHS and voluntary community dealing with Covid-19. Each region has been allocated an amount of funds, and appointed a ‘lead’ charity to manage these funds. Heads On have been appointed lead charity for the Sussex based NHS Charities, and we have £725,000 of funding available for projects in Sussex.

At the beginning of November we launched an open fund – the Sussex NHS Charities Community Partnership Fund. We are seeking projects that address health inequalities, suicide prevention or supportive discharge from hospital. Partnership applications are encouraged and the grants can support both new work and the enhancement or scaling up of existing projects experiencing increased demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is expected that funding will be available to support work taking place from April 2021 for up to two years.

We have restricted at least 20% of this funding for projects delivered within BAME communities and would particularly welcome applications from BAME led organisations. We will also accept applications across the VCSE sector working in partnership with BAME communities as long as they can demonstrate co-production with people with lived-experience.

The closing date for expressions of interest will be Friday 8th January 2021. 1. Dear Emma,

Thanks for your email. I understand that Heads On is a charity in partnership with the NHS, with the brief to provide funding for people with mental health problems to feel supported, stay active and to become more involved in their local communities. It provides funding for patient and family support, pioneering research and the transformation of local mental health hospitals. Heads On is a Sussex based organisation.
I will pass on your communication to the Crawley Inter Faith Network at the next meeting. You will understand that at this time, any activity of our group is very limited. The membership we previously served before the current emergency has significantly shrunk. But I will insure that your cause is advertised as best as possible. I’m sorry I am unable to be more positive than that.
With every best wish and support for the good fortune of your work.

      Steve Innes
      Secretary Crawley Inter Faith Network
